My brother has been in the hospital for the past ten days, and won’t be going home for a while. Since he has no Internet access right now, he asked me to sign into his email accounts and set up an away message. I did, and while I was at it I deleted unopened email from Ann Coulter and Newt Gingrich and some right wing group. I was sooo tempted to sign him up on some liberal email lists...

Currently there is virtually nothing in place in this country to ensure that the severely mentally ill get treatment. At the very least, they should not have access to guns. Gabby Giffords and the other 18 people killed or injured that January day were neither the first nor the last to suffer because of inadequate background check laws.
